Her family relocated to Miami Beach, Florida, when she was just two years old, where she attended various public schools, including Bay Harbour Elementary, Nautilus Junior High School, and Miami Beach Senior High School. It was during her time in high school that Ms. Jacobson became involved in a court observer program, where she worked alongside a district attorney from the Dade County District Lawyer’s Office, under the leadership of Janet Reno. Ms. Jacobson went on to pursue her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in English at the University of Alabama. She was an active member of the Sigma Delta Tau Sorority and dedicated her time to philanthropic work for battered women. Following her undergraduate studies, she attended Tulane University School of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana, earning her Juris Doctorate Degree in 1993. During law school, she served as a law clerk for Entergy Corporation, gaining valuable experience in a multimillion-dollar merger project. After completing her degree, Ms. Jacobson served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Tucker L. Melancon, a United States District Court Judge in Monroe, Louisiana. She then joined Robert G. Harvey, Sr.\s law firm, where she handled complex litigation cases, including mass tort litigation and appellate court arguments. In 2000, she was appointed as a Commissioner to the Louisiana Human Rights Commission by Governor Foster, later becoming the Chair of the Commission under Governor Jindal. Apart from her legal career, Ms. Jacobson is actively involved in various community organizations. She is a dedicated lay leader with the Jewish Federations of North America, serving on national and local boards, as well as receiving the Garon Young Leadership Award in 2009.
