Ryan Vantrease started his legal career as a prosecutor before transitioning to criminal defense. Learn more about his background and experience. After completing law school, Ryan Vantrease embarked on his professional journey as an Assistant County Lawyer at the Jefferson County Lawyer\s Office. In this role, he focused on prosecuting DUI and DUI-related offenses. Handling misdemeanor cases and conducting numerous jury trials in Jefferson District Court, Ryan gained valuable litigation experience during his time at the County Lawyer\s Office. In 2003, Ryan transitioned to the role of Assistant Commonwealth Lawyer in Jefferson County. Here, he prosecuted felony criminal offenses at all levels in Jefferson Circuit Court, including handling multiple jury trials. This experience equipped Ryan with a solid foundation for his future endeavors in criminal defense. In 2005, Ryan established the Vantrease Law Office, where he dedicated himself to assisting individuals facing criminal charges in Kentucky. Prior to merging with David Mushlin to form Mushlin and Vantrease, Ryan had the privilege of representing numerous clients across a wide range of criminal offenses. Even after the merger, Ryan continues to represent individuals facing serious charges such as Rape, Capital Murder, Assault, and Drug Trafficking. His courtroom experience includes litigating bond reduction motions, suppression motions, preliminary hearings, and jury trials at all levels of the judicial system in Kentucky. Many of Ryan\s cases have garnered significant media attention, with some being considered high-profile. His work was even featured on a recent episode of the nationally televised program "The First 48."
