Roger W. Smith Jr. is a highly respected lawyer based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Born and raised in Raleigh, he attended the local public schools before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of North Carolina in 1991. During his time at UNC, he was honored with induction into the prestigious Order of Gimghoul. Following his college years, Mr. Smith ventured to Wyoming where he spent two years mastering the craft of hand-making rough white-pine furniture in the Western tradition. Upon returning to North Carolina, he co-founded Appalachian Designs, a successful furniture manufacturing and marketing company. In 1996, Mr. Smith enrolled in the Norman A. Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University. Throughout his time in law school, he excelled in the Trial Advocacy Program, earning the book award and securing a spot on the School\s National Trial Team. He was also inducted into the Order of Kivett. After obtaining his law degree in 1999, he joined Tharrington Smith, where he has since made a significant impact in the legal field. Mr. Smith\s dedication and expertise have not gone unnoticed. He has been recognized as one of the top 100 DWI Lawyers in North Carolina by The National Advocacy for DUI Defense in 2014, as well as being named to the National Trial Lawyers top 100 National Trial Lawyers for the same year. Additionally, he was honored in Business magazine\s Legal Elite for 2014. A member of various esteemed legal associations, including the Wake County Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, and the American Bar Association, Mr. Smith is highly regarded within the legal community. Alongside his professional accomplishments, he is a devoted family man, sharing three children with his wife, Leigh Ann Smith.
