Mark Cheser is a highly experienced criminal defense lawyer in Union, New Jersey, with over 35 years of experience in handling a wide range of cases from murder to speeding violations. Mark Cheser, a native of New Jersey, graduated from Emory Law School in Atlanta, Georgia in 1978. During his time in law school, he served as a Governor\s Intern assigned to the Union County Prosecutor in 1977. After graduation, he became an Assistant Prosecutor in Union County from 1980 to 1983, where he gained valuable experience in various sections such as the Appellate Section, Juvenile Section, Assignment Judge\s Trial Team, Elizabeth Project Trial Team, and the Narcotic Strike Force. He handled over 300 files and tried 28 cases to verdict, giving him insight into how the police and prosecutors think and act. Since leaving the Prosecutor\s Office, Mark Cheser has focused solely on criminal defense. He was a partner at Nassberg & Cheser from 1983 to 1988, and has been a solo practitioner since 1988. In 1989, the N.J. Supreme Court designated him as a Certified Criminal Trial Lawyer, a distinction held by less than 1% of the bar. This certification has been reissued four times to the present day. He was also named Master of the Richard Hughes Inn of Court, the highest designation of that organization, which is an association of trial attorneys and Judges. Additionally, Super Lawyer magazine has listed him numerous times for his outstanding work in criminal defense. Mark Cheser has represented thousands of clients and has appeared in nearly all the Municipal and Superior Courts of N.J., as well as the Federal District Court of N.J.
