She previously held the position of Vice Chair for the AILA Washington Immigration Court Liaison Committee.
Before pursuing a career in law, Lynn Garfinkel completed her undergraduate studies at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. She designed her own international development degree after studying abroad in France and South Korea. Following her work at national organizations advocating for low-income families, she obtained her law degree from Northeastern University School of Law in Massachusetts.
During her time in law school, Ms. Garfinkel served as a teaching assistant and participated in clinics focusing on prisoner's rights and the death penalty. She interned at prestigious institutions such as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, and the Office of the Federal Public Defender for DC.
Furthermore, Lynn Garfinkel dedicated her time to volunteer human rights advocacy work at Amnesty International's Mid-Atlantic Regional Office and served as the Representative to the Special Initiatives Grant Committee for five years.
