As a partner in a large law office, I have represented medical device, diagnostics, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and convergence technology companies, as well as prominent private research institutes and the nation's premier public university system. One of my notable achievements was managing all legal affairs for a university's $130M research program, which was well-known for developing laser, optics, and simulation technologies. Over the years, I have been nationally recognized for my law practice by The Best Lawyers in America®. My areas of expertise include company alliance agreements, technology licensing, investment due diligence, opinion drafting, patent preparation and prosecution, and patent, trademark, and copyright infringement litigation. I also have significant experience in corporate formation, mergers/acquisitions, corporate governance, import/export, federal contracts and grants, public records, public finance, conflicts of interest, research investigations, and Institutional Review Board matters. Prior to becoming an attorney, I worked as a biochemist and small business owner. I have also served as an academic advisor to entrepreneurship centers at the University of Pennsylvania and Washington University in St. Louis. Additionally, I was an adjunct professor at Washington University School of Law, where I taught a Biotechnology Law intersession course. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry/Chemistry from the University of California, San Diego, where I was an undergraduate Research Scholar. I then went on to earn a Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh, where I served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Pittsburgh Journal of Technology Law and Policy.
