Retaines and Rates
I do charge a consultation fee, which is $350. I try to be extremely fair and provide a consultation/initial meeting free, however; I just can’t do free consultations because I would do them all day long and have no other time. Like all family law attorneys, I require a retainer to be paid prior to commencing work. A retainer is the money necessary to be held in escrow for me to get started on the case. For a contested divorce or custody case the initial retainer is typically around $7,500, this is adjusted based on the specific circumstances of your case. I charge $375/hour and you will be billed monthly only for the work completed and that money earned will be removed from the retainer in escrow and placed into my account. The money held in escrow is fully refundable at any time and certainly refunded if unused, for example, if the case settles. Let me know if you would like to set up a time to meet or if you have more questions.
