Mr. Peck is a dedicated lawyer in Honolulu, Hawaii, specializing in representing families under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. With over 1000 cases on behalf of children with disabilities, his expertise in IDEA law is unparalleled.
Mr. Peck\s career began with a focus on special education matters, working for a firm during law school that represented parents in this area. After graduating in 1996, he joined the Protection & Advocacy agency in Hawaii, where he worked on cases to bring about systemic change for people with disabilities. In 1999, he founded his own firm, LegalAction, in Honolulu, providing representation to families in special education matters at no cost to them. Since then, he has been a national leader in the field.
Throughout his career, Mr. Peck has been involved in many significant cases, including Doug C., where he established a new rule for procedural compliance with the IDEA in the 9th Circuit. He was also co-counsel in Hawaii\s class action for special education rights and lead counsel in Hawaii\s Olmstead action, among others. His work has helped establish the right to money damages under Section 504 in the 9th Circuit.
With a background in Talmudic thought, history, and social justice, Mr. Peck has a diverse educational background, including studies at the New School for Social Research, Pratt Institute, and Marquette University Law School.
