After graduating from Beverly Hills High School in 1976 and earning his Bachelor\s Degree in Economics from UCLA in 1980, Matsunaga began selling apartment buildings and obtained his real estate broker\s license in 1981. He then moved to Kahala, Hawaii in 1989 to develop properties for sale to Japanese investors, but returned to Los Angeles after the Tokyo Stock Market crash in 1990 to attend law school at the University of West Los Angeles. Matsunaga\s legal career started as a law clerk at Magana, Cathcart & McCarthy, a Century City law office specializing in personal injury and wrongful death cases. After passing the bar in 1995, he worked as an associate attorney at Barth, Green & Kelly, a real estate defense firm, representing sellers and real estate agents facing lawsuits from disgruntled buyers. However, Matsunaga realized that civil litigation was not his passion, leading him to establish his own law office, Matsunaga and Associates, in 1996, focusing on estate planning. Specializing in Estate Planning (Wills and Trusts), Probate, and Medi-Cal Planning for Long-Term Care, Matsunaga has helped thousands of families navigate the complexities of long-term care planning.
