Jessica H. Dixon is a highly accomplished lawyer in Virginia Beach, with a strong background in various legal areas and a commitment to serving her community. Jessica H. Dixon graduated summa cum laude from Otterbein University in Columbus, OH, with a major in Political Science/Government and triple minor in Psychology, Speech Communication, and Legal Studies. She then went on to graduate second in her law school class with highest honors from North Carolina Central University School of Law in Durham, NC, earning a Juris Doctor and Certificate in Dispute Resolution. Her legal experience is diverse, including legislative and policy evaluation, judicial internships, litigation, and mediation/settlement negotiation/alternative dispute resolution. In 2014, Jessica joined The Cooper Law Office, P.C. in Virginia Beach to establish its successful family law division. By May 2019, she was named Partner and later Senior Vice President. In March 2023, her partner was appointed to the bench, and Jessica took the opportunity to launch her own firm, Resilience Law Group, PLLC. Jessica has developed expertise in military family matters and is a strong supporter of service members and their families. She is also knowledgeable about LGBTQ+ family matters and was the first in Hampton Roads to file and obtain a divorce for a same-sex couple in 2015, as well as establish parentage of a child conceived via assisted conception during a same-sex marriage. Throughout her career, Jessica has received numerous accolades for her services, including being named Virginia Business "Legal Elite," Super Lawyers "Rising Star," receiving the Walter E. Hoffman Community Service Award from the Norfolk Portsmouth Bar Association, being recognized in Inside Business\s "Top Forty under 40," Coastal Virginia Magazine\s "Top Lawyer" of Adoption, Marital, and Family Law, and being honored as one of Virginia Lawyers Weekly\s "Influential Women of Law." In addition to her legal work, Jessica has a strong sense of civic duty and is actively involved in her community. Some of her past and current involvements include serving as a U.S. Navy Ombudsman, participating in the Virginia Beach Bar Association\s "Concerned Lawyers Advocating Spousal Safety" (C.L.A.S.S.) program, volunteering as an ABA Military Pro Bono attorney, serving on numerous City of Chesapeake Committees, and coaching NPBA Trial Competitions.
