During his time at Campbell Law School, Mr. Russell was actively involved in various legal activities. He served as a candidate member and Chief Comments Editor of the Law Review. Additionally, he worked as a research assistant for Professor James B. McLaughlin, where he edited Webster’s Real Estate Law in North Carolina. Mr. Russell\s dedication and hard work did not go unnoticed, as he received the North Carolina Advocates for Justice Calhoun Advocacy Award and the ALI-ABA Scholarship & Leadership Award. As a member of both the Campbell Law mock trial and moot court teams, Mr. Russell excelled in his advocacy skills. He was recognized as a regional runner-up in the American Association of Justice’s National Student Trial Advocacy Competition and as a semi-finalist in the U.C. Davis Asylum & Refugee National Moot Court Competition. Prior to joining Tharrington Smith, LLP, Mr. Russell gained valuable experience as a clerk for the Honorable John C. Martin, Chief Judge of the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Mr. Russell\s commitment to excellence is further demonstrated by his membership in the Order of the Barristers, a national organization recognizing outstanding courtroom advocacy skills. He is also an active member of the Wake County Bar Association and the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. In addition, Mr. Russell has served as a coach for Campbell Law’s moot court team and was honored as a North Carolina Super Lawyers\ Rising Star in 2016. Outside of his legal practice, Mr. Russell enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including backpacking, snow skiing, cycling, and SCUBA diving.
