He graduated magna cum laude from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1999 and went on to serve as a law clerk to a federal judge in Arizona. After gaining valuable experience in commercial litigation and school law at a large firm in Phoenix, James decided to open his own law practice in Coos Bay in 2018. In addition to his legal career, James has a strong commitment to public service. He spent seven years as a member of the Coos Bay School Board and successfully ran the 2017 facilities bond campaign. Since 2014, he has also served as a Commissioner for the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay, where he focuses on economic development and the vitality of the region.
