Fernando O. Zambrana Aviles is a highly experienced lawyer based in San Juan, Puerto Rico. With a strong background in immigration law, bankruptcy law, and various other legal fields, Mr. Zambrana Aviles has a proven track record of success in representing clients in a wide range of cases. Mr. Zambrana-Aviles began his academic journey by completing his undergraduate studies in Science, History and Policy, and International Relations at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During this time, he also participated in a language exchange program at the Nevsky Institute of Language and Culture in St. Petersburg, Russian Federation, where he obtained a certificate of proficiency in the Russian language. His research on the reforms of the post-Soviet Russian Armed Forces, conducted with the assistance of Russian military scholars in Pittsburgh and Moscow, further deepened his understanding of international affairs. After completing his undergraduate studies, Mr. Zambrana-Aviles went on to earn his Juris Doctor at the University of Puerto Rico, School of Law. During his time at law school, he participated in the Immigration Clinic, where he gained valuable experience assisting clients in removal cases and adjustment of status under the Cuban Adjustment Act. Since being admitted to the bar, he has continued to focus on immigration law, representing clients in family and employment-based immigration petitions, consular matters, and removal cases. In addition to his work in immigration law, Mr. Zambrana-Aviles has also represented individuals, municipalities, and corporations in a variety of legal matters. He has tried cases and represented clients before the US District Court and the Courts of Puerto Rico in environmental litigation, labor and employment law, civil rights and constitutional claims, foreclosures, criminal cases, collection of monies, and claims against the United States based on the Federal Torts Claims Act. Furthermore, Mr. Zambrana-Aviles has extensive experience in bankruptcy law, having been part of a three-attorney team responsible for representing Casiano Communications, Inc. during its Chapter 11 reorganization. His expertise in this field has been recognized by his peers, and he has also served as an adjunct professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, School of Law, where he taught a course on Immigration Law in 2011.
