About
Elizabeth Doss, a lawyer based in Richardson, Texas, shares her journey and passion for law from her early days as a delegate for the Missouri Girls State to receiving her Juris Doctor degree in 2013.
For some people, choosing a career is a time-consuming process. But not for Elizabeth Doss – the Missouri native had her future mapped out early on. As a high school junior, she was selected to be a delegate for the Missouri Girls State, a summer leadership program sponsored by the American Legion. That event sparked in her a life-long passion for law, an interest that she would continue to foster for years to come. During that summer, she attended a course where a local attorney discussed landlord/tenant law. For Doss, that encounter was a “light bulb moment” of sorts. “I remember thinking that people sign leases every day, not really understanding what they are signing or what the repercussions are,” she recalls. “I decided to become an attorney because I thought it would help me better understand the transactions that impact my daily life and, through that understanding, I would be able to help and empower others.” Doss’ determination to pursue a law career continued during her undergraduate studies at the University of Central Missouri, where she was part of the Mock Trial Team, as well as a member of Pre-Law Student Association. She then continued on to the University of Arkansas School of Law, receiving her Juris Doctor degree in 2013.Legal Issues
