Lawyer Douglas J. Neuman hails from Geneva, Ohio, where he was raised on a farm by his parents, Theodore and Edna Neuman. His father, Theodore, worked as a steel worker, instilling in Doug a strong work ethic from a young age. Doug excelled academically and was named the Valedictorian of the 1970 class at Geneva High School.
After high school, Doug pursued higher education at Vanderbilt University, where he graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Chemistry and History, with a minor concentration in mathematics. He then went on to earn his law degree from Case Western Reserve University Franklin Thomas Bacchus School of Law in 1977.
Throughout his career, Lawyer Neuman has been actively involved in various community service organizations, including the United Way, Boy Scouts of America, the Niles Historical Society, Residential Horizons, SCOPE, Niles Rotary, and as an Elder of First Christian Church in Niles.
In 1977, Lawyer Neuman began his legal career working with Lawyer R. Clare Westenfield. Following the passing of Lawyer Westenfield, Doug continued on in a solo general practice. In addition to his private practice, he also served as general counsel for Security Dollar Bank from 1978 to 1990 and as the Law Director of the City of Niles from 1980 to 1983. Since 1987, he has been an agent for the Ohio Bar Title Insurance Company.
In 1974, Doug married Billie (Porter) Neuman, and together they have four children: Benjamin W. Neuman, Ph.D., (Nicola Benning) of Texarkana, Texas; Jacob T. Neuman (Heidi Rhodes) of Longwood, Florida; Rebecca G. Neuman of Niles, Ohio; and Samuel D. Neuman of New York, New York. They are also proud grandparents to three grandchildren: Isaac, Theia, and Vegas.
