Damiane Curvey Banieh, a lawyer based in Houston, Texas, has a unique background that sets her apart in her field. Born and raised in Houston\s Fifth Ward area, Damiane later moved to the North Forest Independent School District where she excelled academically, graduating Cum Laude from M.B. Smiley. She then pursued her passion for media by earning a Bachelor of Science in Radio-Television-Film from The University of Texas at Austin. After completing her education, Damiane worked as an Adoption Recruiter for DePelchin Children’s Center, where she focused on finding loving families for special needs children. Her dedication to protecting children led her to pursue a Teaching Certification from The University of Houston-Downtown, while also starting a career as a Language Arts teacher in the Aldine Independent School District. During her five years as a teacher, Damiane made a positive impact on the lives of her students. Despite finding fulfillment in her work with children, Damiane felt a calling to pursue her personal goal of becoming an attorney. This desire was further fueled in 2008 when she witnessed the events surrounding the Yearning for Zion (YFZ) Ranch in El Dorado, Texas, where over 400 FLDS children were removed from their homes. Damiane volunteered her time and resources to assist in the case, remaining unbiased and focused on upholding the law. Thanks to her efforts, the families were reunited, and the case against the FLDS was ultimately dismissed. In addition to her legal work, Damiane is a dedicated member of the Fifth Ward Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as the Fine Arts Director for five years. She cherishes her family, including her husband, Stephen, their son, Nicholas, and their Miniature Schnauzer, Zeus.
