He began his legal journey at the first IP boutique firm in Atlanta, Newton, Hopkins & Orsmby, where he worked from 1970 to 1983. After that, he went on to found the IP boutique Needle & Rosenberg, which later merged into Ballard Spahr LLP in 2008. He served as the first Chair of Ballard Spahr\s Intellectual Property Department until July 1, 2012, and continues to be a partner in the firm. Throughout his career, Mr. Needle has been involved in high-profile litigation cases, including copyright and trademark disputes for iconic brands like CABBAGE PATCH KIDS(R) dolls and the VIDALIA(R) onion trademark. He has also handled patent infringement actions across various technologies. Additionally, he has served as a Special Assistant Lawyer General for the State of Georgia for intellectual property law matters for over 30 years. Currently, Mr. Needle serves as a Neutral Panel member for alternative dispute resolution at JAMS.
